We at Sole Projekt thrive to provide running athletes with new shoes when needed. New well fitted shoes on athletes are the only expense coming toward families of any socioeconomic background. Schools provide all other equipment (uniform, training equipment). The expense of a new pair of shoes usually being anywhere from $70-150 can be a burden on some and be a factor in an athlete’s ability to participate in running sports. There are current programs for prior owned shoes for athletes. Running however is unique and requires newer shoes to get the best performance from athletes, but more importantly to prevent injury. Poorly worn in or shoes that have been worn in too much lack stability and can cause injury. The focus of this non-profit is to get the funds to donate new running shoes to athletes through fundraisers and donations from community members and local businesses. This program would serve Durham Unified School District with plans to expand to other school districts
